Private Spa

Es muss nicht unbedingt ein Wellness-Hotel sein... Gerne nehme ich mir selber etwas Zeit für mich, bringe die Kinder bei der Oma unter oder schicke sie mit meinem Mann auf einen Wochenend-Trip und gönne mir mein ganz persönliches Spa...
Ein paar Stunden Zeit, Ruhe, gute Kosmetik, angenehme Düfte - und ich bin wie ausgewechselt!

You don't have to travel to a first-rate spa... I sometimes like taking some time off, having a day just for myself, taking the kids to their grandparents or send them away for a weekend-trip with my husband - and treat myself to a private spa...
A few silent hours, calm, good cosmetics, nice fragrances - and I'm full of new energy again!

Seaside Walks

Zum Wochenbeginn nehme ich euch mit auf einen kleinen Strandspaziergang. Für mich gibt es wenig entspannenderes, als nach einem anstrengenden Tag noch ein Wenig am Meer entlangzuspazieren - einfach perfekt!

A new week has begun and today I will take you with me on a walk along the beach. After a stressful day, for me there is nothing more relaxing than a walk at the seaside - it's just perfect!

Ich mag die Kontraste, den Geruch, die sanfte Brise, das Rauschen im Hintergrund... Und meine Mädels lieben es, Muscheln und schöne Steine zu sammeln...

I like the contrasts, the smell of the salty water and the sand,  the gentle breeze, the sound of the sea... And my little girls, they like collecting seashells and beautiful stones - they can't get enough...

Wir können nicht ans Wasser gehen, ohne von Lebensfreude erfüllt zu werden - es ist fast ein wenig magisch...

As we get to the sea we always feel this zest for life - it's really magical!

Mütter - Mums

Ich kann mich glücklich schätzen: für mich wird Muttertag nämlich gleich 2x im Jahr gefeiert. Zuerst der englische Muttertag im April, und nun der deutsche Muttertag. Eine der tollen Dinge am binational sein! Ist das nicht super, gleich zwei Mal von den Kindern bedacht zu werden? Mit Küssen zum Morgen, einer liebevollen Bastelei zum Frühstück und dem Versprechen "Du muss heute mal nichts machen!" zum Mittag.

I can count myself lucky: we celebrate Mother's Day twice a year - first we had Mothering Sunday in April, now today it's Mother's Day in Germany. One of the good things about being binational. Isn't it great to be celebrate twice? With kisses in the mornig, lovely crafted things for breakfast and the promise "You don't have to do anything today!" for lunch...

Und wisst ihr was? Ich finde, jede Mutter sollte weitaus öfter gefeiert und verwöhnt werden! Denn Mütter leisten jeden Tag so viel, da sollten wir doch viel öfter mal dran denken!


And you know what? I think, every mum should be celebrated far more often! Because mothers achieve so much every day, we should think about that more often than once or twice a year!

Also, ihr Mütter, denkt immer wieder daran: ihr seid großartig!

So, mums everywhere, keep that in mind: you are gorgeous!

Wild Flowers

So gerne ich auch Blumen im Blumenladen kaufe, so sehr liebe ich doch die wilden Blumen im Wald und am Wegesrand. Und nichts geht über die Schönheit eines selbstgepflückten Wildblumenstraußes. Was meint ihr?


I like buying flowers in the shops, but even more I like the wild flowers in the woods and by the wayside. There is nothing like the beauty of a bunch of self picked wild flowers. What do you think?

Gerade der Frühling lädt dazu ein, durch die Natur zu streifen und Blumen zu sammeln...

Especially in sprintime it's a joy...

Und mein großes Töchterlein kann gar nicht anders: sobald sie draußen ist MUSS sie Blümchen pflücken...

My bigger daughter just can't help doing it: as soon as she is outside, she absolutely HAS to pick some flowers...

Dieses Sträußchen fand in einem kleinen Milchkännchen platz: ich mag den Kontrast zu dem schlichten Blau!

This small bouquet I put in a little milk jug: I like the contrast to the plain blue colour!

Hier habe ich ein kleines Ästchen von der Vogelbeere aus dem Garten in ein nostalgisches Kännchen gesteckt - so einfach - aber ich liebe es!

Here I put a little branch of our mountain ash in the garden in a little nostalgic jug - so simple - but I love it!

Garten & Picknick - Salate * Garden & Picnic Salads

Mir kommt es vor, als ob wir in letzter Zeit vorwiegend draußen essen - das Wetter ist einfach zu schön, um drinnen zu sitzen, auch wenn es wieder etwas kühler geworden ist.
Aber für Picknick und Gartenparty müssen es nicht immer die altbewährten Kartoffel- und Nudelsalate mit Majo und Wurst sein - ich bin immer am Erdenken von neuen Salatideen: etwas anders, leicht und dennoch schnell und einfach zubereitet.

We seem to eat outside nearly every day at the moment - the weather is just too good to sit inside, even though it cooled down a bit.
But I don't want to have the same type of salad every time, so I'm always thinking of new ideas for a new recipe: it should be a bit different but made quickly and easily.

Frühlings-Kartoffel-Salat *°*°* Springtime Potatoe Salad

Eine frühlingsfrische Version des Kartoffelsalates:

leicht gemacht mit gekochten Kartoffeln, Radieschen, Feta und Schnittlauch.

Dressing aus Weißweinessig, Öl, Salz und Pfeffer.

A lite version of potatoe salad:

easily made with cooked potatoes, radishes, feta and chives.

Dressing from white wine vinegar, oil, salt and pepper.

Esst ihr auch so gerne draußen in der Natur?

Bulgur-Salat fruchtig-scharf *°*°* Bulgur Salad spicy & fruity

Gemacht mit gekochtem Bulgur, eingelegten getrockneten Tomaten und deren Öl, Frühlingszwiebeln, Cocktailtomaten, Gurke, glatter Petersilie, Minze und einem geriebenem süßen Apfel.

Die Zutaten einfach (zerkleinert) miteinander verrühren.
Für das Dressing werden 6 EL starker Minztee, etwas fruchtiger Essig (hier: Granatapfel-Essig), Olivenöl, Salz, Pfeffer und Chili benötigt.
Etwas ziehen lassen - dann schmeckt er so richtig lecker.
 

Here you need boiled bulgur, sun-dried tomatoes in oil (including the oil), spring onions, cocktail tomatoes, a cucumber, Italian parsley, mint and a sweet grated apple.
Just mix all of the ingredients (chopped).
For the dressing mix 6 tbsp. of strong mint tea, a fruity vinegar (I used pomegranate vinegar), olive oil, salt, pepper and chilli.
Let it stand for a while before eating - then it will be absolutely delicious!

I love washing up!

Seit einigen Tagen wasche ich gerne ab! Schwer vorstellbar, oder?
Aber ich habe solche schönen Spültücher gefunden in den Snape maltings - und damit ist diese Arbeit gleich um ein vielfaches angenehmer!

For a few days now I like washing-up! That's hard to imagine?
I found these lovely dishcloths at Snape maltings - and they made the washing-up a lot more pleasant!

Ich mag die Naturtöne mit dem zarten Hellblau dazwischen... und die Textur der Tücher...

I like the natural tones and the light blue in between... and the texture of the cloths...

Sind sie nicht schön? Fast zu schade für den alltäglichen Gebrauch (aber nur fast...)
